I realized that I had no read my e-mail yet and therefore missed the memo about writing about an article that used an anonymous source. Fortunately, I did read an article in the LA Times yesterday that did such a thing. In the story about Holly Ashcraf (the USC female student who is accused with murdering her baby by disposing him moments after his birth in a local dumpster)there were friends of hers who said they would not be identified, because of possible future penalties, but that they would speak on her. I think those sources were important because of the more in-depth and factual information you will get from her real, close friends who are scared she will find out that they spoke to the press. Without those certain anonymous sources I fear we would never get a true story.
