This past weekend the news was covered in stories about the fire in the vally. This was of high significance to me because my roommate is from the vally and his family had to evacuate. I believe that the news covered the fires very well, I was able to know exactly what areas were burning and how many homes were burnt down (fortunately, the last I heard only one home was lost). A fox news field reporter spoken to many different families who were expressing their pain and frusteration at what was going on. One can't help but have their heart go out to those who almost, or did, loose their homes. Something that I thought was very well done by the reporters was the reiterating that such natural disasters as fires must happen and will happen. Although they are sad and scarry moments for those around them they are important. One thing that I felt was lacking in all the stories is a reason for why fires are not set intentionally. History has shown us that brush fires will occur, so why is there not a better plan for having them finished before homes are their burning ground? Just a penny for thought.
