According to CNN.com, California's Supreme Court on Wednesday refused to stop the execution of convicted killer Stanley "Tookie" Williams, the founder of the Crips street gang who became an anti-gang crusader while on Death Row, a court spokeswoman said. The condemned man has two possible chances to win a stay of his December 13 execution. This story is an intense and importnat one to our society. For years this man was the reason of so many deaths, though apparently he has changed. It is so hard for one to decide whether or not to believe him and the things he says. California must obide by their laws but one must ask if there are exceptions.

An article on CNN.com told the story of actor Page Kennedy. Reports had been flying through the news that Kennedy had been fired from the hit television series for "improper behavior" and many news sources were indicating nudity. I am happy to see this article hit one of cnn.com's headlines because of the importance of truth in the media. According to the article, Touchstone had decided to go in a new direction with the show and therefore bought out his contract. By no means was he doing anything that was resulted in his termination. I applaud cnn.com for being one of the sources which did not publish the false story, but rather tracked down the truth. Now that the real story is out one is able to look at other sources that previously released false information as less credible.

An article on www.latimes.com stated that the amount of sexual content on national television has neearly doubled since 1998, with nearly 70% of all programs containing some sex scenes or related language. I found this report to be rather shocking. I am in comm 203 right now at USC and it is a course which closey follows media and violence. After learning all of the extensive (and shocking) effects that violence in the media has on our society, I am quite shocked that we allow this to occur. How many violent sexual crimes have to happen before someone says enough is enough?

An article on cnn.com was about a suicide vehicle bomb exploded Wednesday outside a Shiite mosque and shopping area in Babil province, south of Iraqi capital, killing twenty people and wounding sixty. The war hold a very close place in my heart becuase of all of my friends fighting over seas. My best guy friend is in the Marines and I am constantly watching news articles worring about his well-being along with the safty of other military officers. Although my heart first rides with the men of America, I feel terrible for all of those innoncent lives being stripped away for questionable reasons. I am just hoping that this war ends as soon as possible taking the least amount of lives possible.
